Welcome back!

We hope that you had an enjoyable Summer – it seems so long ago now – and made the most of the good weather.

We are looking forward to a positive Autumn Term in Year 3 and Year 4.  This term our topic is Journeys.  We have set our reading challenge for the children to travel along a river; in History we will be looking at the journeys made by The Romans and The Vikings.  Many of our texts in Literacy will be linked to the topic of journeys too – we can’t wait to share these books, to inspire the children’s own reading and writing.  In Science we will be looking at the journey of food through the body – there will some interesting vocabulary to learn and discuss!  More details can be found in our planning overview CLICK HERE JOURNEYS’ TOPIC PLAN.

Over the next few weeks, children will be settling in to their new classes, getting used to new routines etc.  Most of the time, children are being taught literacy by their form teacher, however they may be in a different room for maths.  In Maths, we will start by focusing on Place Value but will also be introducing a new program for learning their times tables.  Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school all week.

The webpage will be updated regularly so please keep checking it to see important information and upcoming dates.  If you have any questions, please contact your class teacher and/or Miss Reeve.

HELP – we are currently trying to develop the corridor around our classrooms to make it more exciting and engaging for the children.  Both out here and in our rooms we are creating reading areas for the children to access throughout the day.  We would be grateful for cushions, beanbags etc

Many thanks

Year 3 and Year 4 team

All children are expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week – and yes we encourage more!

The children will be subscribed to Times Tables Rock Stars where they can be become Rock Legends/ Rock Heroes when practising their tables – could they do 5 minutes every week day?  (It’ll be soooo addictive).

We will also be using the new spelling program that you have all been giving permission for us to sign your children up to.  Children may also be given work on My Maths.

Further information to follow.
