Computing

Technology is a huge part of everyone's lives, therefore at Edgar Sewter we believe that we need to equip the children to be successful in a world that is constantly being transformed by technology. We focus on developing the skills needed for children to use technology in an effective way. It is important that children have opportunities to allow them to develop good Computing skills.

At Edgar Sewter we are lucky to have a Chromebook trolley in each key stage so that Computing skills can be taught. The Chromebooks are also used to support wider curriculum lessons too. A variety of technology including Bee-bots, Micro Bits and Crumble kits are also used to teach the Computer Science strand of the Computing curriculum which develops programming skills.

Our long term plan covers Online Safety, Digital Literacy and Computer Science. Schemes of work are used including units from Keychain Computing which are progressive.

We feel it is important that Online Safety is taught throughout the whole year and should regularly be revisited so that children understand the role we all play in creating a better and safer online community. More information can be found on the Online Safety page including regular Online Safety newsletters for parents.

We are a google based school and all children have their own google accounts which give them access to their key stages google classroom with learning opportunities.
