First year in school
Children will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) stage curriculum. The EYFS stage was created to ensure your child’s first 5 years are happy, active, exciting, fun and secure, as well as to support their development, care and learning needs. The EYFS Framework supports professionals working with children from 0 – 5 years old.
Your child’s learning journey will be planned and monitored based on the 7 areas of learning in the EYFS Framework.
3 prime areas:
Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas:
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
The sequence of learning and activities suited to your child’s unique ways will be planned through playing and exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking, which will take place both indoors and outside.
Communication
A member of the EYFS team will always be there to welcome your child/ren into school in the morning. Please catch them at this time to share daily information ie Nanny will collect Beth from school this afternoon. Ryan did not sleep very well last night so he may get tired later in the day. If you would like to discuss something more in depth please arrange a meeting directly with the class teacher or via our school office.
Formal parents evenings are held three times a year to discuss how your child/ren are progressing and the next steps in their learning journeys.
Reports are written at the end of every term to highlight your child/drens achievements and next steps in their learning journeys.
If you have any more general queries please contact our school office who will be very happy to help you.
